“Until Morning” is a velvety, emotionally arresting R&B single by British singer-songwriter James Vickery. Released on May 13, 2021, as a standout track leading up to his critically acclaimed debut studio album, Songs That Made Me Feel, the song showcases Vickery’s breathtaking vocal control and his unique ability to craft intimate, late-night soulful confessions.
Produced by a talented collective of beatmakers, the track is anchored by a lush, minimalist instrumental driven by warm electric guitar arpeggios, a subtle, hypnotic drum groove, and rich vocal harmonies. Lyrically, “Until Morning” captures a moment of intense vulnerability and passion, exploring the desire to press pause on reality and prolong a fleeting, romantic night with a lover. Vickery delivers the performance almost entirely in his signature soaring falsetto, evoking the classic, timeless feel of 90s slow jams while maintaining a fresh, contemporary neo-soul sheen.
Elevated by its raw emotional depth and a sleek, atmospheric music video, “Until Morning” resonated globally, helping to cement James Vickery’s reputation as one of the most exciting and distinctive voices in modern British R&B.
