YFN Lucci – 7.62

“7.62” is a gritty and deeply introspective track by Atlanta rapper YFN Lucci, released on December 13, 2019, as part of his mixtape HIStory. The song’s title references the 7.62mm caliber ammunition commonly used in high-powered firearms, setting a raw, street-oriented tone for the record.

Produced by TNTXD and ProdByDMac, the track finds YFN Lucci in a reflective state, surveying the vast distance between his past struggles and his present success. Utilizing his signature blend of melodic vocal delivery and aggressive rapping, Lucci opens up about his humble beginnings—recalling times when he had nothing—and contrasts them with the new complications, jealousy, and paranoia that accompany wealth and fame.

Throughout “7.62”, Lucci acknowledges the harsh realities of survival, the lingering pain of his experiences, and the necessity of remaining heavily guarded against those with ulterior motives. Despite the heavy burdens of his elevated status, the song also highlights his unwavering focus on providing for his family and staying true to the people who supported him. The track stands as a powerful example of YFN Lucci’s ability to channel real-life trauma, vulnerability, and authentic street narratives into emotionally charged Southern hip-hop.
