2 Chainz (born Tauheed K. Epps) is an American rapper, entrepreneur, and prominent architect of modern Southern hip-hop. Hailing from College Park, Georgia, he originally gained recognition under the moniker Tity Boi as one half of the hip-hop duo Playaz Circle. Signed to Ludacris’s Disturbing tha Peace label, the duo delivered the 2007 smash hit “Duffle Bag Boy” featuring Lil Wayne.

Seeking to advance his solo career with a more marketable image, Epps rebranded as 2 Chainz in 2011. This sparked an unprecedented mid-career resurgence, turning him into one of the most sought-after feature artists in the industry. He solidified his superstar status with his 2012 debut solo album, Based on a T.R.U. Story, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and spawned massive platinum anthems like “No Lie,” “Birthday Song,” and “I’m Different”.

He continued his dominant run with critically acclaimed projects like Pretty Girls Like Trap Music (2017), Rap or Go to the League (2019), and collaborative albums with Lil Wayne, including ColleGrove and Welcome 2 Collegrove. Known for his charismatic punchlines and luxurious trap aesthetic, he won a Grammy Award for his feature on Chance the Rapper’s “No Problem”. Beyond music, 2 Chainz is a successful entrepreneur and media personality, notably hosting the hit television series Most Expensivest and building a multifaceted business empire in the Atlanta area.
